I don't understand why a pharmacy would knowingly choose to fill 2 of 22 pills in a prescription because that's all they had in stock, and then inform you they don't expect to receive new inventory for 8 days, on a medication that once you begin taking it you cannot have any breaks in dosage. Because this pharmacy chose to just do a partial fill of 2 pills, without at least considering the fact it couldn't be stopped once started, or contacting me it prevented them from transferring it to another Walgreens that could have filled it fully so that I could have started taking it which would seem to make sense. Surely, Pharmacists are trained to see the bigger picture...and think critically.

I have had consistently negative experiences with this pharmacy, and I believe it is the worst in the entire country. Each time I call in a prescription—giving them a generous 20 hours’ notice—they invariably ask if I can come back an hour later to pick it up. The service has steadily deteriorated over time, and the customer service is absolutely dreadful. The staff seem completely clueless about how to interact with customers respectfully. A simple phrase like “Your medication will cost $25” is replaced with a curt “$25,” which comes across as rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend this pharmacy to anyone seeking reliable and courteous service.

The pharmacist is the worst I’ve ever seen. She can’t remember conversations she’s had with customers recently. She wasn’t able “to get in contact with United Health Care to find out and bill the price for the medications “ so she didn’t even bother filling it , when it was supposed to be filled hours ago. All she had to do was run the insurance but made up an excuse because she was too incompetent to be able to run the insurance. Pharmacist with the accent for reference.

I have to admit that this store is always my salvation. Also the staff is always professional and ready to help.

Dear Walgreens: Nobody wants to have to take a bunch of pills everyday just to survive. Every little thing pharmacy staff can do to make life easier for customers on complex medication regimens can improve our quality of life. Please remember your customers are patients, and patients are people too!
Rite-Aid Pre-Acquisition Review:
"I love that Rite-Aid staff know me by name and help me remember my scripts every month!"
I hope that Walgreens staff from CEO to cashier will take notes and implement processes and procedures from Rite-Aid that made life easier for patients with chronic medical conditions!
5-Stars for former Rite-Aid Rx staff
5-Stars for Walgreens pharmacists
3-Stars for Walgreens Rx app
0-Star for Walgreens Rx cashiers who weren't trained at Rite-Aid
0-Star for Walgreens HQ
<2.6 overall rating
Unfortunately, it's been downhill ever since Walgreens acquired Rite-Aid. The clinical transition has been just awful!
From supply chain issues to incompetent customer service, I never know if I'm going to get the right meds - on time - or not!
It's unfortunate that corporate didn't care enough to invest in technology and training to ensure a smoth transition for former Rite-Aid Pharmacy patients.
Walgreens pharmacy staff don't even have a way to contact corporate - or any human with the authority to resolve serious complaints: 1-800-Walgreens.
Really?
The only silver lining is that many Rite-Aid pharmacy staff stayed on at Walgreens post-acquisition. I hope Chris and the others are being treated well!
To be fair, the Walgreens pharmacists are really helpful if you can get past the gatekeepers at the register (you know, the ones who weren't trained at Rite-Aid).
And to be clear, my complaints are for the Walgreens Pharmacy Department only. The general retail staff are always friendly and helpful. The store is always clean, well-stocked, and well-organized. I'm sure the pharmacy staff are all well-intentioned (optimist that I am), so I have to assume the root of the mayhem is corporate.
Update 5/15/2019: I really appreciate the improved accuracy of text reminders, easy pay app, and recent customer service phone call to arrange pick up of all my maintenance scripts on the same day each month. However, still 3-stars because it took way too long to implement a procedure that should have happened prior to the Rite-Aid shutdown.
I'm also concerned the non-Rite-Aid staff still do not address me by name. "Can I help you" is not ok for regulars.
2017: "Walgreens pharmacy staff are very friendly and helpful if they know you - not if they don't! 3 Stars because of the super convenient location at the corner of Clearview and Airline with drive-through pharmacy and 3 entry/exit points, including a side street so you can take an alternate route during traffic. It's also the only 24 hour pharmacy in the area, which is a plus in case of emergency or if you work odd hours."
Walgreens needs to realize a pharmacy is more than a retail outlet. People's lives are at stake! From C-suite to cashiers, manufactures to pharmacists, Walgreens is responsible for filling doctors' Rx orders and maintaining patient safety.
I really hope no one has died as a result of getting the wrong medication or from poor communication when the right medication is out of stock, no longer available, or not carried at a particular location. Certainly those of us still living have suffered enough waiting on Walgreens Pharmacy to get it together!
Note: I don't like to dwell on negative experiences. It's usually best for me to simply move on and never visit a bad business again than to waste energy complaining online. However, since this Walgreens location is the only pharmacy with late hours near me, I have to resort to extreme measures to (hopefully) improve Walgreens' service delivery standards for myself and other patients. And since there is no easy way to contact HQ directly, I really hope someone reads this who can make a difference.

Come here to Walgreens at 4501 Airline Dr. It's horrible. They always take too long. Whether the store is full or empty, it doesn't matter, it takes too long. I don't know why they are so slow and they see that there are many people waiting in line and they don't put people one more person to move the line forward and on other occasions it has been empty by myself in line and I have had to wait an hour and a half for my medications and right now I just left the store because they don't do anything to make the line Go ahead and it's not really the store, it's the employees who work very slow

I don’t know who is bringing these hateful black women from the New Orleans stores to Metairie stores is baffling me. Please send them back DA NOLA.

The Pharmacy doesn't have a clue and makes vital medication mistakes (4 in a 2 week period) that can harm you and your family. And they lack the Manners to apologize.
